As reported in Cellular News, Monday 01 September 2008, 7 prisoners at maximum security Gulzar Ahmad Butt Camp, Pakistan, ready to take serious risks to bring cellular phones illegally inside the camp.
The chief on duty recognize the cellular phones inside their rectum when scanning with metal detector. Total 30 cellular phones found from these prisoners.
The officer did medical treatment to taken out the cellular phones. Then all of the prisoners get additional punishment by remove to the 'chakkis' the very small prison that you can only sit or stand!

5 Million iPhone 3G Sold

According to the Piper Jaffray research note released Monday September 22nd, 2008 Apple iPhone 3G sold about 5 million in 3 months (quarter). Apple known sold 1 million iPhone 3G in the first weekend it went on sale around the world.
People enthusiasm still high although there are bugs in the iPhone's 2.0 software. And other factor of high selling iPhone is the number of countries that are officially selling the iPhone is increased. It will meet the Apple target for 2008 in 10 million. Not so hard.
EUR 500 Acer Smartphone in 2009
Hard competition on smartphone business, move acer to prepare entering this business.
Announced on ITvoir, Acer, Computer maker from Taiwan propose to release smartphone in the first quarter of 2009. It will be UMTS enabled and touch screen like iPhone. And will cost EUR 500 according to Acer CEO Giafranco Lanci in an interview with German financial magazine Capital Investor.
With their own brand, Acer want to be big player in the industry and will recruit another 500 new worker to handle this division.
Acer first smartphone planned to ship in West Europe and Russia then to Asian marketplpace in Taiwan and Hongkong. But unsure this product will brought to US.
Acer will compete agains the big name in this industry including RIM, HTC and Apple.

Sony PRS-700 also has capability to store and display EPUB files even work with Adobe Digital Editions software.

The latest HP Ipaq will released on Desember 2008
HP will release the latest version of HP's iPaq on December 2008 in Europe marketplace through mobile network provider.
The new smartphone will use Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system with touch-screen technology. With 3G GSM quad-band technology enables its capability to access emails and internet with speed up to HSDPA 7.2 MB.
It is not confirmed yet about retailed price but it will around US$500 according to the latest Ipaq device price.
HP has been released the first Ipaq in 2002 after acquired Compaq in that year. The sales of the HP smart phone less than a 3.3% around the world behind Nokia and Research in Motion product.

Sometimes when we use camera, the picture result ghosting and flare. It is caused by reflection that forms by large changes in the refractive index of light over the glass air boundary on the lens surface.
We usually use a thin film coating onto lens to minimize the reflections but it's not always work because the light's angle could be the factor that leads to ghosting and flare.
The Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) Technology (canon)
The Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) Technology is introduced by Canon to minimize reflections. This anti-reflection technology work by aligning countless wedge-shaped structures more minute than the wavelength of visible light on the surface of a camera lens.
Canon's SWC technology can be applied mainly in wide-angle lenses. In the future, Canon will implement SWC technology for all their lenses, especially lens with large-curvature.

That device seems cool as it has 256KB capacity, can play mp3, sound recording and FM tuner just for US$15 when it cost US$73 in local store.
